In Revelation 3:14, Christ refers to Himself as The Amen.
“And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write, ‘These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God
It was a custom, which passed from the synagogues to the Christian “churches”, that when he who had read or spoken, had offered up prayer to God, the others responded Amen, thereby making the substance of what was said their own.
In Hebrews 1:1-4
God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world. And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power.
Christ is The Amen to everything God has spoken. Period.
Every revelation of God…is found in Christ.
Every thought of God…is wrapped in Christ.
Every purpose of God…is revealed in Christ.
Which leads to Revelation 3:20
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.
How can Christ be outside of the door of the hearts of those who profess to follow Him ?
How is this possible ?
Because Laodicea refuses to make the substance of what was said their own.
Laodicea refuses the fullness of the Son.
Because they have accepted what is of man.
And through this process, they have pulled the Amen down to man’s level.
Jesus Christ is fully God.
Jesus Christ is fully Man.
But He is not just human.
He is not just a pattern that we follow.
He is not just the object of our finite minds to dissect.
Above all things, He is not just a glorified Man that has billions of carbon copies on earth.
He is complete in and of Himself.
His nature is complete in and of Himself.
His existence is complete in and of Himself.
We can’t understand that with our finite minds. So we pull Him down to our level.
Isaiah 42:8 says,
I am the Lord, that is My name;
I will not give My glory to another,
Nor My praise to graven images.
We don’t have graven images anymore.
We don’t go into the “high places” and praise Baal.
Or do we ?
Maybe we have become the ultimate graven image ?
Maybe we have become so enamored with ourselves that we have become our own “high place”?
Maybe we have replaced the image of God…fully expressed in The Son, with the image of man… fully expressed in the church ?
Look at The Amen as He is revealed in Revelation 1:13-18
And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands, and in the midst of the seven lampstands One like the Son of Man, clothed with a garment down to the feet and girded about the chest with a golden band. His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes like a flame of fire; His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and His voice as the sound of many waters; He had in His right hand seven stars, out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and His countenance was like the sun shining in its strength. And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me, “Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last. I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.
Lets focus on one thing.
Eyes like a flame of fire.
Do you remember when you first encountered Him ?
Do you remember how you felt before your encounter ?
Do you remember how the guilt and shame of sin was heavy upon you like a lead blanket ?
Do you remember how your heart cried out in a combination of fear and awe ?
Do you remember falling dead at His feet ?
Do you remember how you knew, you just knew, He was Lord and Savior ?
Do you remember feeling new and whole and holy all at once … and you had nothing to do with it but just believing on Him ?
Do you remember the feeling of purity within ?
Do you remember being different from that moment ?
Do you remember ?
He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
We need to return to our First Love.
