Enough Is Enough

Today I read an article by Jonathan Welton. Here is a small quote from his summary on Revelation 21 and 22.

“Clearly to take New Heavens and New Earth in a literal wooden fashion is akin to believing in childish fantasies such as Santa Claus and the Tooth fairy. Jesus and the Apostles of the first century were simply using the cultural vernacular of the day when they referred to the Old Covenant Temple system being destroyed by fire as the “heavens and the earth passing away” and the New Covenant System taking its place as the “New Heavens and the New Earth.”

Does that worry anyone else out there ?

Is anyone else concerned that this stuff is being taught under the banner of “supernatural” and “revolution” or whatever marketing buzzwords are used ?

I am not even going to write about the implications of what he wrote and how it undermines the basis of faith. Just read Hebrews and you will see what I mean. I am not going to address how pathetic it is to write off the last two chapters of the Word of God as though Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy co-authored the hope and future of the faithful.

I am making a purely personal observation then I will share something that I received from The Lord in 2011.

Jonathan Welton, and those that have co-authored books with him, simply regurgitate the teachings of John L. Bray, David Chilton, and Gary Demar. Nothing new here. The difference is that they package it in a “supernatural” way. “Spiritual” words like “seer” and “prophetic” are thrown around like dirt at a monster truck show. It is amazing what can be taught when it’s camouflaged in a “spiritual” environment. People don’t and won’t question what is coming forth from the speaker, because they feel that they would be “unspiritual”. The pressure of the environment overcomes the conscience and replaces intuition with expectations.

In 2011, I was told something very unusual. I was told to watch President Obama, because he would be reelected, and I would learn about portions of the Church by understanding him. I didn’t like this but it has proven true. Here is my latest example…. The President is an educated man. He went to Columbia and Harvard. He is an intellectual. He has also been shaped by Chicago politics. Interesting combination. The true power behind the President though is the spirit of lawlessness that is being released through him and his administration. A perverse spirit producing changes that are re-shaping the direction of a nation. That same spirit is being released in the Church. Change (remember that buzzword ?) is happening to many who are placing themselves under the teaching of “intellectuals” in the body of Christ. “Intellectuals” whose agenda is centered in human reasoning and pride and whose purpose is to re-shape the direction of a holy nation.

Extreme ? Have I gone too far ?

I grew up in a church that began well and ended up embracing the spirit of lawlessness. I was fed by “intellectual” leaders who couched their teachings in “spiritual” language and experiences. Those leaders used to say stuff like this….

You better understand this teaching or you are not going to be able to handle the next level.
You better catch this wave or you won’t be able to ride the next one.
This church is the elite of God in this time.
We are called to change the church worldwide.
This teaching is going to change and shape the church world.
And on and on and on.

This attitude and spirit is prevalent today.

Beware.
